Social Equity can be a vital component to any state's adult-use cannabis rollout. It is an unfortunate truth that these programs are invariably prevented from success by lack of capitalization. Money is promised and not delivered, or made so difficult to access that many SE candidates give up or get passed over.
Delaware is trying something different with $6.2MM in grant money available to all 47 social equity candidates starting in January. The Delaware Office of the Marijuana Commissioner ("OMC") is tying up loose ends with the application for the grant program and will be sharing details as they develop. (The OMC is about to conclude the
first round lottery by choosing the winners in the Open Retail category.)
